“Don’t just talk about it, BE ABOUT IT.”
Last weekend ‘media maven’ Karen Civil traveled to Haiti in order to open her “Live Civil” computer lab in Titanyen, at the House of Hope Orphanage!
“Each year I return to Haiti, I hope that whatever I bring contributes to the betterment of these students for the long-term. In 2017, all students must have access to computers and other updated technology. It impacts the speed in which they can complete their homework, how quickly they can access information online, and improve their typing and reading skills. I want them to be given the same opportunity other educated your are given in different countries. I’m grateful to Jack Brewer for helping make this lab come to life. “
Karen, along with “The Jack Brewer Foundation” donated multiple computers to aid in STEM education and research.
What is STEM education for those unaware?
“STEM is a curriculum based on the idea of educating students in four specific disciplines — science, technology, engineering and mathematics — in an interdisciplinary and applied approach.”
Not only did the students receive computers, but Dr. Dre gifted each student with a pair of “Beats By Dre” headphones along with a pair of Vans sneakers as well. How amazing right?!
Karen’s philanthropy work began in Haiti [where her family originates], and she began giving back in 2014! Prior to the computer lab, she not only donated clothes and books to the students of Haiti, but she also opened a playground.
THIS IS MAJOR!
Thank you Karen Civil for being the change we wish to see.
