In the year 2017 most don’t turn to books and/or mentors for motivation, instead they rely on ‘storytelling’ from speakers who’ve gone through similar experiences and have overcome. Which is why seminars like “Ted Talks” have become a huge phenomenon.
Beginning as a conference for technology, entertainment, and design; ‘Ted Talks’ now provides so much more! In most cases, people find solitude, confirmation, and hope in listening to a talk which may be filmed in any area of the world.
“TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less). TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics — from science to business to global issues.”
Our CEO, Kierra M recently chatted about how she enjoys listening to various talks on her morning rides to work, not only as a result of the very DIVERSE conversations, but because the talks really help to form mental conversations.
You begin to actually put thought into who you are and what you expect and/or want from the life your leading!
More recently, we came across a Ted Talk by Adam Leipzig which caught our attention because he stated that he could help us figure out our purpose in 5 minutes! [Click Here For The Video]
Of course we were intrigued because MOST go through their entire lives without truly knowing their true purpose and/or passion. So if this man thought that he could help us figure it out within minutes, we were definitely willing to try things out.
According to Adam, by asking yourself 5 questions you’ll get the answer! [ Keep in mind that he’s NOT asking for in depth answers….]
- Who are you? [i.e. your name]
- What do you do?
- Who do you do it for?
- What do these people want and/or need?
- How have they changed as a result?
Don’t over-think the question, the first answer to pop into you mind usually is the right one!
We think the hardest part is asking yourself Question #2! Why? Because most of us don’t know what we’re doing or really how to classify it. So according to Adam, keep it simple. What do you like to do?
A few members from our team actually took the test, and we were ALL amazed!
Our CEO, Kierra M has decided to share her results….
- Who are you? Kierra M
- What do you do? Talk For A Living
- Who do you do it for? Women, Young Adults
- What do these people want and/or need? Support
- How have they changed as a result? Their Inspired.
So the next time someone asks her….. What’s your purpose? According to Adam the correct response should be, “I help to inspire women and young adults.”
Most of the time, we REALLY overthink what’s quite simple if we just take the time out to listen to ourselves and our initial thoughts.
Take the test, and leave your results below. We want to know, what’s your purpose according to Adam Leipzig’s “5 Minute” theory?
